Spending Ban | August

Hello Lovelies!

So if you read my last blog post, you would know that I have been spending like crazy lately, I have an addiction guys its bad.

Uni has started and even though I'm working part time I have decided to put a total spending ban on make up AND clothes!

yep. Both. :(

It's definitely something that needs to happen, I have a car loan and bills to pay and you can't pay them if all your money is on your face ;)

However because I have bought so many new things lately I will still have lots to blog about!

This is going to be a struggle, because I can think of so many things that I want to buy right now!
Im just going to have to alienate myself from any shops!

It will be interesting to see how much money I save! :)

Has anyone else done a spending ban before?
How did you go? and what were your reasons as to why?
Id love to hear about it:)

P.s follow me on IG to keep track of my #thebeautyscoopspendingban at _thebeautyscoop

How to | Cool brown eyes and terracotta lips

Hello Lovelies!

Today I will be going through how I created this look!
Its cooler toned browns/nudes and a rich terracotta lip

These are the products I used
-Loreal Lumi Magique foundation N4 Pure Beige
- NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat powder foundation in Nude
-Maybeline Fit Me concealer in Light
-Elf Studio Pressed powder in Porcelain
-Sleek MakeUP Face Form contouring kit in medium
- MUA blusher in Candyfloss
- Gerard cosmetics Star Powder in Marilyn
- Morphe individual shadows in Porcelain, Deep Skin, Bridesmaid and Deep Cocoa
-Maybelline Hyper Sharpe Wing liner and Lash Sensational mascara
-PONI cosmetics brow dust in Thoroughbred
-Gerard Cosmetics lipstick in 1995

Base

Loral Lumi Magic fondation - I applied this with a foundation brush to achieve a medium coverage, I used a foundation brush (brand unknown) and it blended well!
Maybelline Fit Me concealer - Applied in a triangle shape under the eyes, a line down the bridge of my nose and a line on my forehead to highlight those areas, blended in with a concealer brush (brand also unknown). The shade is lighter than my foundation to achieve a highlighted look
Elf Studio Pressed powder - Applied with a BH cosmetics powder brush to set under the eyes and mattify the forehead and nose
NYX stay matt but not flat powder foundation - Applied on the rest of the face with a large BH cosmetics powder brush

Blush, highlight and contour

MUA blusher - Applied with the xo beauty medium dome face brush starting from tom of the cheek bones and swirling down the the "apples of the cheek"
Sleek MakeUP face form contouring kit - Using the darkest brown on the Morhpe tapered powder/blush brush  and in quick blending motions I applied it just under my cheek bones coming down on an angle
Gerard Cosmetics star powder - Applied above the cheekbone with a BH Cosmetics blush brush

Eyes and brows

Morphe individual shadows - I applied Porcelain on the entire lid, however focused on the lower lid so it stands out agains the dark shadows. I then applied Deep Skin on the crease line blending inwards slightly and brought it out to just past where my eye ends. I did the same with Bridesmaid but didn't bring it inwards as much. Deep Cocoa was applied just on the outer crease to create some depth.
Brushes used were BH Cosmetics eyeshadow brush, small eyeshadow brush, Designer Makeup Tools soft tapered blend brush and xo beauty round top blender brush
Maybelline Hyper Sharpe wing liner - Using the thin side of the liner I created a wing from the lower lash line to meet up with the shadow I blended out. I then brought it back in, keeping the wing thin towards the upper lash line. Using the thicker side I follow along the lash line into the inner corner
Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara - Applied in an upward motion, with a slight wiggle
PONI cosmetics brow shadow - Using the BH cosmetics angled eyeliner brush and starting at the end of the brow, lightly blend the dust following the natural shape of the brow

Lips

Gerard Cosmetics lipstick 1995 - I dont have a lip liner that would match so I used the edge of the lipstick to line my lips and then applied as usual

I was really happy with this look!
Whats your favourite look? I might try it out!

Bondi Sands self tanning foam | Review

Hello lovelies!

Tanning has become a must do in many beauty bloggers lives, and with SO many brands and types to choose from it can be a bit overwhelming.

I have heard lots of talk about Boni Sands and as its easily accessible to me I thought I would give it a go!

First application: I purchased the foam in "dark" so for my first application I was cautious as to how long I left it on for. The instructions state that the skin can be washed after ONE hour, or up to 6.

I decided o leave it on for 2 and a half hours.

When I was applying it I noticed that it had a lovely coconut scent to it that takes away that well known "tan smell"

It applied really evenly and even though the formula is dark it came off my hands quiet easily with hand wash and then a small amount of toothpaste (someone once told me that helps!)

I unfortunately didn't take any photos of my first application, but once washed off after the 2 and a half hours it developed into a beautiful natural tan! I was about 1-2 shades darker than I was to begin with, which I was happy with! I would normally go a bit darker so now I know I know i can leave it on for a bit longer.

Second application: I took photos this time!

This is pre tan! (I was cold don't mind the goosebumps)

I applied the same amount as last time, however this time I left it on over night!

It dried quite quickly so I didn't feel sticky going to bed.

When I woke up I realised that my hands were orange from the tan, obviously my toothpaste trick didn't work this time!

I washed it off in the shower with NO soap just water. Once dried off I was noticeably darker

It was even all over and still very natural looking.
Im pretty happy with it!

The only thing I might do different next time is happy a second coat once the first is dry and see how dark I can get it, and invest in a tanning mitt!

Whats your favourite tan?
Comment below and let me know where you can purchase it from!

New Maybelline purchases | review - first impression

Hello lovelies!

Today I'm back with product reviews!

Today I will be going through the Maybelline Fit Me dewy & smooth foundation, Fit Me concealer and the limited edition pack of LASH sensational and Hyper Sharpe wing eyeliner.

(all purchased from Kmart)

Fit Me dewy & smooth foundation - I fell in love with this foundation as soon as I applied it! Its so soft to apply and blends easily! After leaving it on for a few hours it wasn't feeling heavy or cakey but it gives great coverage! I applied a heavier amount for a full coverage and its still feels light on the skin. It might be my new favourite!

Fit Me concealer - A full coverage concealer great for under the eye! I purchased the "light" shade to give a brightness to under the eyes and it works perfectly! It works great with the foundation, they don't get clumped together it glides nicely over the top. Another favourite!

LASH sensational mascara - The first words out of my mouth when I applied this mascara were
" OH MY GOD THIS MASCARA IS AMAZING" and thats exactly what it is! It lengthens, applies volume and separates your lashes to create an almost fake lash effect. If you don't already have this mascara you need to get into your car, drive to Kmart and go get one NOW!!

Hyper Sharpe wing eyeliner - Another great product! Maybelline are on fire! I created a perfect wing first go!! That never happens, and I am not kidding. This eyeliner has a perfect thin tip to create a wing and is easy to work with. Im so happy! I find it hard to apply winged eyeliner as I have weird hooded lids that make it difficult but the thinness of the tip makes it much easier!

I just have too say, WELL DONE MAYBELLINE! Im so happy with all of these products
Keep it up!

Hit and Miss | June whats hot and whats not

Hello lovelies!

Today I thought I would start a new segment..
Hit and Miss!

There are obviously products that work for some people that don't work for others, or they may just be a complete fail!

Today I will be showing you what I'm loving and whats just not hot

(products purchased from various stores - Target, Kmart, Coles)

Loreal Lumi Magique light infusing foundation - HIT!!!!!

Im totes loving this atm
Its my go to foundation!
I just love love love it, its been in so many posts lately because its just so good!
It will be a sad day, or maybe a very happy day, when I find something I love as much as this

Rimmel Scandaleyes thick and thin eyeliner - MISS

Sorry Rimmel but its just not for me.
It has dried out far too quickly, and I just can't work with it.
I find the pen too thick to create a nice flick even though its thick AND thin

Chi Chi Vivi La Diva lipstick on O.M.NUDE - HIT!

This is a perfect nude! Its creamy and pigmented and everything Im looking for in a nude.. lipstick ; )

Essence Lash Princess volume mascara - MISS

I think its the brush on this mascara that I'm not diggin'
Its flat on one side and then curves up and down on the other
I just doesn't do what I hoped it would.
My lashes do not look like they belong to a princess :(
However paired with another mascara and its fine, But kinda defeats the purpose of using it in  the first place.

NYX Baked Blush + illuminator +bronzer - HIT HIT HIT

Yeah I kinda like this one...
ITS SO GOOD GET ONE RIGHT NOW
The one photographed is Ignite, it it has definitely ignited my love for blush
Its so highly pigmented and soft and has beautiful gold flecks through it.
Sooo good

NYX Love In Paris parisian chic palette - MISS :(

The colours in the palette are beautiful neutral colours but unfortunately it just doesn't have enough pigment for me.
Its fine for a soft every day look but even the darker colours art that dark even though they look like they would be.

If this post was helpful for you or if you have had different experiences with these products comment below!
Im hoping to make this a monthly blog post :)

blushes | review

Hello lovelies!

Its been a busy few weeks for me so I'm sorry I haven't been able to do much blogging but I'm getting back into the swing of things!

Today I thought I would do a review on the blushes I have collected over the past year or so

Lets start with the MUA Blusher in Candyfloss

(purchased from crush cosmetics)

It has a beautiful soft, velvety texture, is highly pigmented and blends easily! It also has a lovely subtle shimmer. Definitely a must have!

Benefit Dandelion face powder
(purchased from benefit cosmetics)

Comes with a contouring brush which applies the product well. Is in gorgeous packaging. The texture isn't soft as the MUA blush but it does blend well and is highly pigmented. One of my everyday go to blushes

Australis Blush BFFs in Truth or Dare
(purchased from Priceline in store)

This blush has been featured a lot on my blog. Its been one of my most used blushes, as you can see!
These two colours are a perfect combination. One is a shimmer and one is matte. highly pigmented and soft texture.

Too Faced Sweethearts blush in Candy Glow

(purchased from beauty bay)

The main feature of this blush is the packaging. I personally think thats why there is a price tag on these products. Its soft in texture however even though the colours are very vibrant I find it quite subtle in colour. If your looking for a cheaper option there are definitely LOTS on the market.

NYX baked blush in Foreplay and Ignite

(purchased from Target in store)

These are the newest additions to my blush collection, and I have been loving them!
They are highly pigmented, easy to blend and have a beautiful shimmer to them. I would definitely recommend them as a daily use blush!

Im thinking of trying out the Make Up Revolution dupe for the Too Faced Sweetheart blush, have you tried it? comment below!

Do you have a favourite blush? comment below what it is!

Bh Cosmetics contour & blush palette | How to contour

Hello lovelies!

As you would most probably know, contouring has become a huge part of beauty guru's daily make up routine.
There are a lot of products and palettes out there these days, some better than others.

Today I will be showing you the BH Cosmetics blush and contour palette no. 1.
It includes 6 shades ranging from white, warm beige and pink toned beige, dark brown and two blushes, a rose pink and a hot pink

(purchased from BH Cosmetics)

And the brushes I will be using
(from left to right - Soft Angle Brush from Designer Makeup Tools, Tapered powder/blush brush from Morphe brushes, Powder Brush from BH Cosmetics and Medium Face brush from XO beauty

First off I started with foundation and concealer

Then taking the Powder Brush I applied some of the light beige powder under my eyes, and then the white powder to add some light

As you can see it has helped to set my concealer and ad a slight highlight to the area.
The colours are matte so there is no shimmer/shine with these products.

I then took my tapered brush an applied the darkest colour just under my check bone for definition

Then I took the soft angle brush with a tiny bit more powder to create a more defined line

I was much happier with this outcome

Then to add some colour I took the bottom blush along my check bone and then the smallest amount of the top blush to add more brightness! This colour is very pink so you don't need much! It blends well

I really enjoy working with this product the powders blend well and they have a lot of pigment.
the lighter colours are harder to see so I applied them multiple times (the white and beige colours)

I don't own any other full palettes, like some of the more popular ones (australis and ABH contour palates)
But I hope to get one or both one day to compare!

If you have any favourite BH cosmetics products comment below what they are!

xx Lucy
